Enlisted for Continuous Service on 1 May 1907. His ship was performing patrol duties and creating a blockade on the Somali coast, in connection with operations against the rebellious Somalis. For this service, he was awarded the Africa General Service Medal with the Somaliland 1908-10 Clasp. The next deployment was to the Persian Gulf and Arabian Sea, to halt the work of gun runners and pirates. This resulted in The Dubai Incident of 24 Decembr 1910. It was for this service, that he was awarded the Naval General Service Medal with the Persian Gulf 1909-1914 Clasp. At Bombay in the Indian Ocean at the time of the 1911 census, with HMS Hyacinth, prior to a return voyage to the UK. Discharged To Pension 1931. WW2 service: Spartiate shore base until 1944. War Gratuity paid. Subsequently discharged 24 February 1944. Died in 1954 in Dorking.
