Portsmouth Naval Memorial
The memorial was designed by Sir Robert Lorimer and is located on Southsea Common. There are 24,593 identified casualties listed of which 10,000 were sailors in World War One. The memorial was unveiled by the Duke of York (future King George VI) on 15th October 1924

Son of Mrs. Geoghegan of Sliema, Malta, and the late Stannus Geoghegan; husband of Mrs. I. A. Downs (formerly Geoghegan), of Arun House, Climping, Littlehampton, Sussex. Educated at Neuwied, Germany, Queen's College, Galway and Trinity College, Dublin (B.A., M.D.). Translator of the German book "Bacteria" by Dr. Max Schottelius. Made five round trips in the P.S.N.C. before entering the Navy. No known grave. Commemorated on PORTSMOUTH NAVAL MEMORIAL, Hampshire. Panel 11.
