First day of Royal Navy service was 13th October 1914, assigned to “Vernon” until 17th October, to “Victory” on 18th until 30th before being posted to Invincible on 31 October 1914 and sailing for the Falklands. Took part in the Battle of the Falklands (see separate file) on 8 December 1914 and returned to Gibraltar in January 1915 for a refit. Frances William Allsup was working for the London Brighton and South Coast railway company in April 1912 as a “Wireman” based at Brighton station.
