After Jutland Bentinck went on in his career and held the office of Aide-de-Camp to HM King George V and Naval Secretary to the First Lord of the Admiralty both between 1918 and 1921. In 1921 he was promoted to Rear-Admiral and was Commander-in-Chief of the Africa Station between 1922 and 1924. In 1924 he was promoted to Vice-Admiral. He was then promoted to Admiral in 1928
