Founded by Thomas Sutton in 1611 on the site of the old Carthusian Monastery in Charterhouse Square, Smithfield, London. The school was moved to its present site, near Godalming, in 1872 by the then headmaster, the Reverend William Haig Brown
Plymouth Naval Memorial
The memorial was designed by Sir Robert Lorimer and is situated on The Hoe which looks directly towards Plymouth Sound. There are 23,204 identified casualties listed of which 7,231 were sailors in World War One. The memorial was unveiled by HRH Prince George on 29th July 1924
