Joined as a Boy on 26 July 1890. Aboard the training vessel HMS Lion in 1891. Started his Continuous Service on 6 February 1892. Commenced coastguard duties in Ireland from 1 October 1901 onwards. Served aboard the BV.6 with the Auxiliary Patrol Zone XI (Dover) (HMS Attentive III accounting base), as part of the Dover Straits anti-submarine barrage from 12 April 1918 to 17 December 1918. Performed coastguard duties at Weymouth from 27 March 1919 onwards. Discharged on 30 April 1919, so as to join the Coastguard New Force service. WW1 campaign medals sent to HM Coastguard, Exmouth. Lived at 6, Coastguard Station, Teignmouth as per the 1921 census. Died on 2 December 1931 in Falmouth.
