Invalided out of the RN on 13/11/1919.Extract from the London Gazette: ‘Petty Officer George Arthur Sayer, O.N.170698. Petty Officer Sayer's leg was shot away when the turret in which he was stationed was disabled, and he thereafter set a fine example by remaining at his post and trying to get his gun into action again’ George Sayer died in 1939 his wife receiving letters of condolence from association of ex-service civil servants and the British Legion. Notes from his SC - R4268/16 awarded annuity £20 to accompany medal granted for Conspicuous Gallantry as from 31.5.16 (vide also AWO 2242/1.12.16) N50082/16 awarded the CGM for services rendered in the action in the North Sea 31 May - 1 June 16 (vide also London Gazette of 15791/??).
