The memorial was designed by Sir Robert Lorimer and is situated on The Hoe which looks directly towards Plymouth Sound. There are 23,204 identified casualties listed of which 7,231 were sailors in World War One. The memorial was unveiled by HRH Prince George on 29th July 1924

Note on his History sheet - NP/r.P23711 Marine services in place of engagement. He joined HMS Defence as Ships Corp II 14/05/15, promoted to Ships Corp I on 15/10/15. Served in the RMLI in Deal, Plymouth, HMS Cornwall, HMS Amphitrite, HMS Isis, HMS Europe,HMS Cambrian, HMS Terrible, HMS King Alfred, HMS Sutlej, HMS Caesar, HMS Victory, HMS Illustrious, HMS Victorious, HMS Majestic, HMS Devonshire.
