Started his Continuous Service on 26 April 1894. Appears on the 1901 census aboard HMS Minerva, moored off Gibraltar. Commenced coastguard duties in Ireland from 9 February 1904 onwards. Awarded LSGC medal in 1909. Address on 1911 census: Coastguard Cottages, Roseapenna, Donegal. Served aboard HMS Caroline from 4 December 1914 to 7 August 1916. Subsequently medically discharged 19 October 1916, and died the following year. Died on 19 November 1917 in Queens Park Brighton. Commemorated by the CWGC.
